Biggest Jackpot Wins In January 2016
In the first half of January 2016 all you could hear about was the amazing $1.3 billion Powerball jackpot, but there's life beyond lotteries, too. Several online slots have also made some amazing payouts in the first month of the year, adding at least a handful of millionaires to the list of big winners.
Surprising as it may sound, no Microgaming jackpots were hit in January. The developer, which provides online gambling at Royal Vegas and thousands of other casinos, has not reported any major wins since a record breaking payout last October.
Now, here is the list, ranked by the win amount:
Spamalot | Millionaire Genie | Hall Of Gods | Mega Fortune
Mega Fortune Dreams | Jackpot Giant
Playtech's Spamalot Progressive ($1.1 million)
Monty Python's Spamalot is a progressive video slot machine based on the musical comedy adaptation of the classic Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail movie. You know, the one with the French guy shouting "Your mother was a hamster!" Featuring a series of characters from the movie, the game can be annoying at times, but loads of fun as well. Plus, it also comes with an attractive progressive jackpot.
The game pays out on average once every year. The last win (worth over $1.1 million) happened on January 23rd.
Millionaire Genie ($1.54 million)
The Millionaire Genie is an unusual progressive slot, with three reels and a single win line. The jackpot of the game is triggered by three genies landing on it while playing the maximum bet size. Millionaire Genie is a 888 Casino exclusive, and has been developed by Random Logic.
The game paid out $1.54 million on January 25th.
Hall Of Gods (EUR 1.68 million)
Hall of Gods is one of my favorite NetEnt progressives, inspired by the mythology of the Norse. It features Norse gods like Odin, Thor, and Idun on its reels and symbols related to them. The game has three jackpots (Mini, Midi and Mega), and pays out the largest one on average every six months. The latest win - worth 1.68 million euros - was paid out on January 19.
Mega Fortune (EUR 2.7 million)
Another popular NetEnt progressive slot, Mega Fortune, has paid out a massive progressive on January 18th. The 'riches and luxury' themed slot is a former record holder - it has, in 2013, paid out over $21 million to a lucky player. This January the amount was much smaller, but still considerable at EUR 2.7 million (around $2.9 million).
Mega Fortune Dreams (EUR 3.4 million)
Mega Fortune Dreams is Mega Fortune's sequel, with a similar theme and a similar way to trigger jackpots. It was the more generous game this January, making a payout worth 3.42 million euros to a lucky player. The lucky player has won the amazing jackpot with a spin wager of only EUR 4.
Jackpot Giant ($6.42 million)
Jackpot Giant is one of Playtech's latest progressive slots, but it already has quite a few big wins tied to its name. And the 'giant' is not just a name - January's win of $6.42 million was the largest ever progressive jackpot paid out by a mobile slot machine.
